The Warmth of Fall

Published by lilairthepoet under Poems Edit This

A cup of warm creamy hot chocolate,

a bowl of hot apple cinnamon flavored hot cereal.

Snuggling under my favorite knitted afghan as the crispness of fall

sets in the early morning waking.

…

Bundled in flannel and a heavy cotton jacket,

crunching in the fallen crisp leaves that lay upon the ground

while you hug the one you love hiking on a favorite trail at the park.

…

Sitting on a porch, escaped in a favorite book,

a pet curled in your lap, as it looks for warmth in the autumn chill,

snuggling with your children in front of the fire

while you roast weenies and marshmallow smores.

…

Autumn brings warmth and a need to get close as a new coolness sweeps in.

Time for memories to be made, or memories to be remembered.

…

Gather close to those who mean the most to you,

to embrace the warmth of fall.

…

Embrace the change of the season,

and keep those dancing leaves

near to your heart.

FALL MEMORIES

Published by lilairthepoet under Poems Edit This

Gathered by a sparking and smokey fire,

roasting my marshmallow smores.

….

Singing campfire songs, and sharing family stories

of those long times ago with the ones I love.

…

Wrapped in a favorite snuggled blanket along with

an old patterned flannel shirt,

I shiver, as the late autumn chill tickles my cold rosy cheeks.

…

The leaves in the trees rustling in the wind,

as we prepare for an old fashioned hay ride.

Children laughing and giggling as we pass the cars out on the roadways.

A trip into the country brings fear as older ones spook them with stories of old time haunts.

Warm fresh and hot apple cider is passed as everyone tries to warm from

the cool fall air.

The moon above shines high in the sky as it prepares for the next harvest.

…

Autumn is a magical time of year with the changing of the colored leaves.

It’s one last hurrah and time for nostalgia before the brutal and harsh winter sets in

to leave us locked away under the blankets in our home.

…

One last outdoor escape,

one last dancing fall leave spitting from the tree…

One last fall memory,

to imprint it’s story

in my heart.

In Memory of 9/11

Published by lilairthepoet under Poems Edit This

It’s been 7 years since America became a changed nation. Our world was brought to a sudden hault on 9/11 when terrorists crashed through the World Trade Center, and Flight 93 took control of their destiny to save a nation.  Each year, we take time to remember.  While it’s been 7 years, the pain is still fresh, and the memory still stays there like it was yesterday…..  We must tell our children what happened that day, and pray that the same thing shall not happen during their lifetime as well.  For days, our life was impacted, family lost loved ones, and everybody in the world became one.  Today, we are still recovering from the attack, and while we are healing-we will never forget…..

Read the poem that I have written below—in memory of September 11th.

IN REMEMBERANCE OF

The day that America cried,
The day that we as a nation, almost lost our pride.
‘Tis was a sad and heartfelt day,
I believe that the memories will never fade away.

Our heroes who fought for their lives to save the next target,
The heroes who worked day and night, to rescue the wounded
This was the time that our nation came together as one,
As we united and mourned together of the tragic events that struck our life

America and its generation will never be the same,
Or will we live without fear or pain…
Our minds are grief stricken…
Our hearts are broken…

This is a time for healing,
A time for uniting
A time to pray
Not to run away…

America, our nation, we are scared and hurting for those at war,
For those who lost their lives.
But we as a people,
Shall stand together,
To unite and protect
Our fathered land.

VIDEO POEM Creation: A Reason to Live

Published by lilairthepoet under Poems Edit This

If you read the poem, ” A REASON TO LIVE,” from a couple days ago, then try watching this new video poem that I have created.  Instead of narrating my poem, I thought I would add some images from life to add  to the inspirational message that I am trying to send.  I used my windows movie maker that I had on my WINDOWS VISTA operating system, added photos, text from my poem, finally, some background music.  This is the first time in creating a video poem and I thought it would add variety to this blog.  If you have created a video poems, be sure to comment, and leave a link to your poems too.  I may add a video poem every now and then.  I believe when you add pictures and words together, sometimes the message can become clearer.  Images can leave an impression on a person’s minds longer than hearing or reading words ….

Take a moment to click on the link and watch the video at Youtube, and be sure to leave a comment…….

A Reason to Live

Published by lilairthepoet under Poems Edit This

An inspiring poem will get you ready to reach for the stars.

“God gave us a reason.  God gave us life.  He showed us the light.”

There’s an amazing world with so many opportunities.
A life with endless possibilities. You could go so far,

….

Dreams are far and beyond,

and with a heart of faith and hope-

Anything is possible.

Believe….

Believe in your inner strength, and all that you can be.

It’s never to late, and never too soon.

Your dreams are always alive,

our hearts are what keeps them alive inside.

Fight  for your life.

For you only have one.

And praise God,

he gave you the chance,

to make your dreams come true.

because he gave you a reason to live.

“God gave us a reason.  God gave us life.  He showed us the light.”

A Forgotten World

Published by lilairthepoet under Poems Edit This

Outside, I sit upon my country home porch, staring out to a hidden world.

The wind blows through the colorful trees, creating the dance of life.

Inside their homes, the screen of the computer glares…

People soaking up rays of electronic light and ignoring the beauty of the sunshine outdoors.

Does anybody see the magic of the world anymore?

Squirrels frolic  across the lush green lawns, playing amongst the trees,  wild flowers, and weeds.

Robins, doves, cardinals, and other birds of God’s creation fly throughout the skies of heaven.

But inside, the hunting of wild prey is at stake through electronic controllers and

the woods have become trapped in a television  screen

Man has left the beauty of nature behind, and traded his instincts in for a new virtual world.

Somewhere a home is overgrown and is hiding behind the yard,

and the bird feeders that were once kept stocked with seed, lay empty on the ground.

Wilted flowers are dry and scorched in their pots,

and the door to the once loved home is locked-but the light still continues to burn inside…

Where has the passion gone?

Why has the wind stopped kissing our cheeks on a breezy weather perfect day?

…Somewhere along the way, man has decided to stay inside,

and perhaps mother nature just doesn’t want to play anymore.
