Time

Published by lilairthepoet at 3:06 pm under Poems Edit This

23162018.jpgSociety is made up of a hustle and bustle.  We rush to be at different places at certain times.  Sometimes time rules our life-and we can forget to just live in the moment….

Families spend time taking one child to a practice here, or taking another to a birthday party.  We only allow ourselves so much time to read, spend outside, or to do an activity that we might enjoy.  While planning is good, some spend more time planning that actually living.  We are a fast moving society, always on the run, and having somewhere to go-and afraid of being late.  While traffic jams upset us, unruly customers in the grocery line, or waiting to be seen by the doctor are some of our pet peaves–have you ever just taken the time to breathe while waiting? ….Perhaps some of us should re-evaluate time…..

Read the poem below, and take some thought-what does time mean to you?

Time is a moment that we let get by
It is a unit of measure that we spend too much planning on.
Time is what we have left of our lives,
But we are unsure of how much we have…
Days are measured by units of
seconds, minutes, and hours.
Never has a day been really measured by the amount of enjoyment we have had.
Time is over-looked in our society,
And our lives depend on it more than we will ever know.
Without a clock,
And the race of life,
Perhaps society could learn to sit back
And enjoy the peace that could be found again,
Or society could become a confused unruly world
That could possibly destroy itself.
Without time
Can we live?
Or without time-
Would we finally begin to live?
