Poem: Daily Prayer: Give me Patience.
Lord, today I have a few things to pray.
First, I want to thank you for this life that you have given me.
I am blessed to have a home, and food to feed my family.
Next, I need your guidance for patience, Lord.
Please help me from falling asleep when I grow bored. Especially when I am at work or watching a movie that I so dearly agreed to see.
Give me patience, so that I don’t grow angry,
while I wait in a long line,
With my one gallon of milk, and one checkout worker-
And especially the fella behind me,
who continues to ask me for the time.
Lord, please give him a watch!
Give me the patience when the boss is at work, and continues to ask the same questions from last week. I promise, Lord, that those reports will soon get done. Give me morals, so that I don’t repeat the things running through my head.
Give me patience, when my spouse leaves out their dirty socks and clothes
on the floor once again,
or their junk, sitting out on the kitchen table.
I honestly would never mean to hit him over his head.
Last of all, I am truly blessed, for this wonderful family and life. While I may grow weary on some days,
I try to remember how you paid as you loved us, no matter what.
And then the patience doesn’t come so hard. Even when the kids are yelling at the top of their lungs, all over the yard.
